LAMP! is a single player, vertically scrolling endless runner game. This is a student project created for a game design class. The task for the assignment was to redesign a game called "Ant Lion", where our team had to enhance the games concept to make it more enjoyable for users to play, as Ant Lion lacked game motivation, goals for the player to complete and player engagement. The target audience for LAMP! is for players the ages 8-20, but is also inclusive for users of all ages. Overall, we wanted our game to incorporate visuals that are cute, welcoming and friendly. Our game targets players seeking challenge and relaxed, enjoyable gameplay.
Players help Moth-thew the Moth to make his way up to the top of his favourite lamp post while trying to avoid the raindrops falling on top of him. The player wins once Moth-thew has reached the top of the lamp post. If Moth-thew gets pushed off the screen from taking too much damage, it’s game over. To help Moth-thew reach the top, the player can collect power-ups such as the umbrella to deflect a single raindrop, speed-up and heal. With each level, the player must face different challenges with how the rain changes in aspects of intensity, speed and movement.
Additional Notes: All visuals for this project are created and designed by Erika Hance. Audio files of this project and in the demo video belong to its respectful owners on fesliyanstudios.com and zapsplat.com.
