Meta Meme is a program designed to compose image mosaics from a user inputted sourced image. Our goal with this project is to update the use of image mosaics to be more culturally relevant to the modern setting. By making a meme, Image mosaics, which have been out of fashion, will have a relevance with the average young adult. Thus, we present Meta Meme, based on the meme subculture that is composed of collaged images of the same context as the final composed image, hence creating a meta meme.
A meme is an idea, image, behaviour, or style that spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme. We will accomplish this by creating an algorithm that will produce a final image composite created from a collage tile map consisting of the same contextual images as the final represented image through an image mosaic format.
